What happens when I reach a limit?

That kind of request stops until the allowance resets. Daily ones at midnight UTC, monthly ones on the 1st. Nothing else is affected, and nothing you have saved is touched.

Does the free trial reset every month?

No. The trial is a fixed amount, spent once, so you can see properly what the service does before deciding. It does not refill; a trial that came back every month would just be a free plan with a longer name.

What is the archive?

Every card you save, kept and searchable. Your own record of what you have looked up, rather than a translation that disappears when the tab closes. It comes with any paid plan. Cards saved on any plan are kept either way, so upgrading brings the lot back.

How do teams work?

Professional is one subscription for three people. You invite the other two by email, they get their own account and their own archive, and everybody draws on one shared allowance. There is no separate bill, no separate card, and nothing is charged to the people you invite.

What does a fourth person cost?

$10 a month, or $8 a month if you are paying yearly, for each person past the three included. A seat is added to your next invoice rather than charged on the spot, and you are told the price before anything is added.

A seat is not just a login: it raises the team's shared allowance by exactly what the same $10 buys on Basic, so six people have twice the allowance of three. You can take seats away again whenever the team gets smaller.

What happens to somebody who leaves a team?

Everything they saved stays theirs; a card belongs to the person who made it, not to the team. What they lose is the plan, so they go back to whatever their own account is on. Removing somebody does not reduce your bill on its own — the seat stays paid for until you give it up, so it can be passed to somebody else.

Why are some allowances monthly?

Because the expensive things are better measured over a month. Generating a character page costs us real money; a monthly number lets you spend it all in one afternoon if that is how the work arrives, instead of rationing you daily.

Do repeated lookups count?

Only the first one. Translations, pronunciations and character pages are cached and shared, so looking up 中 after somebody else already has costs nothing and counts for nothing.

What if I cancel?

You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for. Nothing you have saved is deleted, and if you come back it is all still there.

What happens to something I delete?

It stops appearing in your account straight away. We keep a copy so that recognition mistakes can be diagnosed and the service improved; the privacy policy says exactly what that means, and how to have it erased outright.

Can I get a refund?

Write to info@scanchinese.com within 14 days of a payment and we will refund it.
